The best ‘Best Man’ prank ever

January 22, 2010 by derryo

After having sworn to ‘no pranks before the wedding’ an anonymous Best Man in the UK, using technology, hooked up the newlywed couple’s bed to send an update to Twitter every time there was some ‘extra motion’ on the bed. The Twitter account @newlywedsonthejob gained over 22,000 followers in a relatively short space of time.

In an interview with Staggered, the anon best man has said that he will tell the bride and groom about the prank on Feb 26th, the day of the groom’s birthday! Staggered have even offered to sponsor a live video feed of the occasion!

We’ll be watching to see how events unfold in what is unarguably the best ‘Best Man’ prank ever.

Staggered is the UK’s number one men’s wedding magazine and provides advice on stag-dos, wedding suits and wedding speeches, making it ideal for best men, grooms, fathers of the bride and, even, brides.

Free online tool to help plan a wedding

September 30, 2009 by derryo

Watching Dragon’s Den recently I was impressed by a website which was featured on it. Family Fridge is ‘A free online tool helping you and your family to become more organised’.

It is designed for families, but I think you could also use it to help plan your wedding. Basically decide who is going to be in your ‘family’ ie. the wedding party, Bride, Groom, Bridesmaids, Groomsmen etc. There are some useful features included in Family Fridge which could be of help in organising a wedding.

A calendar lets you share important dates with everyone. Now no one is going to forget the date of the wedding itself. Heavens forbid! But it could be handy for sharing dates like meeting with the photographer, dress fittings, hair and beauty trials, marriage courses, hen and stag outings etc. All the relevant parties can share and know the availability of each other.

You can mail each other and leave notes within the site and there is also a feature which allows you to securely store important documents. Basically it acts like a fridge you might have at home with notes stuck on it with magnets, calendars and important reminders.

And, what could be very useful is a gift list, where you can leave suggestions of gifts that you might like.

All in all it could be a very handy tool for a wedding party to collaborate in planning the big day. It could help reduce stress on the bride having to phone or email everyone to tell them about the plans ahead. Simply post all the plans on the ‘fridge’ where authorised people can access them. Then it’s up to everyone else to check in for themselves.

Then after the big day the happy bride and groom can set up their own Family Fridge 🙂

Choosing a song for the first dance

July 22, 2009 by derryo

There are so many choices out there with regards to what music you will have played at your wedding, both at the church ceremony and at the reception. In Ireland we do love a good wedding and the choice of music can add to the overall success of the big day.

Choosing a song for your first wedding dance together can be either extremely easy or can lead to disagreements. Sit back, cuddle up to your loved one and listen to some of the tunes on this playlist to give you an idea of where your preferences lie and what song you would like for your first dance.

Click here to go to a site that has a large selection of suggested tunes that you can listen to, that might help in making your decision.

Online wedding album

August 13, 2008 by derryo

I know, I know, I know. Ok I haven’t been blogging much and I can’t technically use the ‘I’m still new to all this ‘ excuse (which is true by the way but invalidated, I feel, since I first blogged some time ago) but anyhow yet again we have another fantastic offer on www.willyoumarryme.ie

Right you have your photos back from your wedding photographer and have the album sorted out. That’s all well and fine. but how are you going to show it to all those who travelled from far and wide to your wedding day? And you don’t want grubby fingers smudging your photos anyhow! Hows about an online wedding album? If you would like the chance to win an Online Wedding Photo Album for yourself or indeed for someone else as a gift, just click here for more information. What better way to share your wedding photos than online so that your aunt in Australia or your cousin in New York can simply view the whole thing online. You could get your parents or grandparents wedding photos, scan them up and have it converted to a lovely online album as an anniversary gift or whatever. Wow, technology is a fantastic thing isn’t it?

Speaking of technology I happened upon this site recently as well which offers the chance to have your ceremony viewed live over the internet. You just need to convince your wedding videographer to sort it for you. The site is www.liveweddingbroadcast.tv It’s not the only one out there but it seems fairly impressive and is well put together.
